Roland Ang

Roland graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic in Industrial Design in Product Design, Graphic Design and Model making. He started off as furniture designer in a local teakwood company doing furniture design, graphic design, showroom and event design layout for a year, before moving on to doing solid surface material in another firm.

Roland’s many years of design experience in furnishing and interiors spans from residential countertop works, internal and external wall cladding, lighting design and many more.

His past clients include Changi Airport Terminal 4, D’leedon, ION Orchard and MINDEF in collaboration with ST Engineering.

 
 
 

What do you do to relax?

Eating, cooking, watching movie, enjoying drink coffee and watching soccer match.

What’s top on your Bucket’s List?

Settle down as soon as I got the one.

 

What does work mean to you?

Work is a means to make a living. It should also be based on interest. Without interest in work, life worthless.

Why do you do what you do?

Pursuing a stable work and life, to learn more skills to increase more income.

 

Where is your next travel destination?

Korea, Taiwan, Japan… looking forward to their local food.

If you have unlimited resources, which world problem would you wrestle with?

Human being behaviours, coz you never know what they are thinking and their next moves.

What's a good film/series/book/podcast to recommend?

Joker in 2019. It reflects the real life.

 

If you could only eat this for the rest of your life- what would it be?

Egg fried rice

What is good design to you?

Good design is simply something user-friendly and solves the key problems for the client.

Describe the best experience that comes to mind

My first design experience was in teakwood furniture, and it’s amazing to see the final product being manufactured from my drawings. And also when the client is happily using it with their family together.
