Plant Uprising
A new awakening for your interiors: No more saying “I can’t!” to them plants!
In our harsh and stressful backdrop, we believe we can create an environment that is lush; free-flowing with greenery. Let loose and let plants OVERRULE ... breaking out the manicured facade of work and life.
Concrete (&) Jungle
It has been revealed time and again through well-being surveys that Singapore, a country metropolis, is indeed a stressful country to live and work in.
Ever wonder why Mother Nature has a way to calm the storms in our minds? A hike through a nature reserve, a walk in a park... The healing sight of green, bringing a sense of tranquility and stillness to our unmeditated thoughts.
Global research and international studies have widely proven that plants do provide some form of relief from mental stress. Heck, plants can even help us be more creative and productive. If you want to improve your physiological state, try bringing in plants that are green, slightly scented, and small in size.
There are some positive psychological effects from having plants too! When we care for something and are responsible for their growth, it suppresses the sympathetic nervous system, and promotes a more comfortable, and relaxed state of mind.
As the new norm (a post COVID-19 work environment) commands that we integrate work and life, the lines for an ever-expanding email inbox and your bed will be blurred. People are going to be more anxious at home as they realise that they cannot shake off their new uninvited house guest - WORK. Our sanctuary has been breached!
I’ve said enough - dotting plants around your home is a sure fire way to decrease those anxiety levels.
Let’s get rooted
Let’s ‘plant’ our feet firmly to fight these stressful times.
Now, how do we do this?
Plants reveal and plants conceal.
Plants can be a dramatic feature or play a supportive role as a textured backdrop.
Plants can demarcate space, and can separate space.
Plants can cosy up a room through treating the space acoustically. Their stems, bark, and leaves break out solid surfaces to absorb sound.
Plants can highlight (showcase volume) and also soften (harsh edges)
